Mining Bitcoin

Bitcoin mining is analogous to the mining of gold, but its digital form. The process involves specialized computers solving algorithmic equations or hash functions. These problems help miners to confirm blocks of transactions held within the network. Bitcoin mining provides a reward for miners by paying out in Bitcoin in turn the miners confirm transactions on the blockchain. Miners introduce new Bitcoin into the network and also secure the system with transaction confirmation.

Vanillacoin - a superior form of cryptocurrency. Vanillacoin is not a clone of Bitcoin or Peercoin, it was engineered from the ground up and is designed to be innovative and forward-thinking. It prevents eavesdropping and censorship and has security in mind. It also promotes decentralized and energy efficient network transactions at sub second speeds.

I sent Bitcoin from Blockchain and 12 hours later there are still no confirmations. I think it's because Blockchain put the transaction fee too low, is there anything I can do about this or do I just have to sit and wait? After a certain amount of time will the coins go back to my initial wallet?

We see Billion-dollar transactions happen over bitcoin all the time. Sometimes it costs less than a dollar.
It's no different than sending a penny's worth to your buddy from one wallet to another. The blockchain doesn't charge any more fees for more coins used; it charges only by how much data your transaction takes up in the blockchain, which is never that much and unrelated to the amount.
Buying that much without AML/KYC is of course the challenge. You'll need to accumulate smaller amounts from exchanges like these until you have what you need: [[link]2

Just transacted bitcoin to another wallet for first time after HODLing for 2.5 years or so, and it hit me how easy it is to transact. Very cool, thought I’d share.

Can definitely see it moving more mainstream with more traction and a weaker barrier of entrance from fiat, especially as money supply becomes more digital.
Question though - I’m no expert at all, but say you encounter a problem with transferring to wallets or you want crypto returned... that seems like it could be an issue without gov involvement or some authority getting involved to handle a type of situation such as that properly. Or is that extremely unlikely to happen with such a complex wallet code. Even disappearance of bitcoin such as the Peter Schiff thing that just came up... or maybe that’s just a ruse since he’s not a proponent lol

"You only own your Bitcoin if they're in a wallet whose keys you exclusively control." We've heard it time and again. That, right there, requires an ONCHAIN transaction. Bigger blocks are the ONLY path to global adoption.

Straight up: if you're against bigger blocks - much bigger blocks - then you're against global adoption.
Bitcoin ownership requires an onchain transaction to receive bitcoins in a wallet under your exclusive control.
Opening a Lightning Network channel will require an onchain transaction as well.
It's as simple as this: a block size limit is a global onboarding limit.
We need to get to 32MB blocks ASAP if we are to have any hope of onboarding the next wave of tens of millions of users. We can't keep Bitcoin restricted to hobby computers or as pet protocols of monopolistic industry players.
We need bigger blocks - much biggers blocks -- NOW!!

You go to make a purchase with bitcoin given a time limit to make payment. You make payment, and your transaction don't get confirmed. This from with a wallet you never had problems before, and so transaction don't confirm - missed purchase, money in limbo. FXXX

Very bad introduction to newbies who will laugh and dismiss this "silly Bitcoin experiment". Thing is we are having this problem precisely because bitcoin is becoming popular and it is inaccessible and unusable to so many people at the moment. How did we let this happen?
